常看HBO的朋友，應該對Sarah McLachlan的單曲「Answer」感到熟悉吧。
HBO以這首歌曲做為背景音樂，剪了一支本月新片的集錦預告，建議奧斯卡典禮頒發最配樂、音效獎時，可以把這支廣告拿出來當教材。
預告剪入「勇敢復仇人」(「Answer」原是該片的插曲)、「蜂電影」、「七日之癢」.....等影片，有驚悚、有可愛動畫、有爆笑白爛喜劇，這些不同題材的作品，以同一首曲子串連後，不約而同地散發出相似的惆悵氣息，音樂強大感染力可見一般。

要談加拿大女歌手Sarah McLachlan，山羊鬍比我更有資格。
早在Sarah McLachlan未走紅前，山羊鬍已經跟我大力推薦過她的音樂，可是，初時我真的不喜歡Sarah的風格，太過沈靜、太過低緩、太過祥和....。
直到1997年，Sarah推出「Surfacing/透明」專輯，我才真正愛上了她。
對我而言，「Surfacing/透明」是一張完美的作品。
專輯收錄10首單曲，每一曲子都美地叫人心動，初聽只覺旋律悠揚、聲線暖和，可是，越聽越上癮，在不知覺中，被歌手的和煦的嗓音給擄獲，將聽者帶入沈靜的心靈世界。
有一段時間，我聽不下其它的音樂，天天沈浸在「Surfacing/透明」中，不可自拔。(當時還是CD、卡帶聽到爛的年代，所以選擇其實也不多啦，哈哈哈哈哈......)
多年後，我將這張專輯推薦給44聽，他聽完一輪後，默默地扣押了我的CD，成為他日後最常拿出來放的音樂。



「Surfacing/透明」推出至今已有12個年頭，咳咳，忍不住要感嘆時光飛逝。
2004年，Sarah McLachlan推出暌違7年時間的錄音室作品「Afterglow晚霞餘暉」(期間只推過Live專輯「Mirrorball」)。
「Afterglow晚霞餘暉」維持著Sarah的高質感，歌曲依然動聽，但帶給我的震撼卻不及當年聽到「Surfacing/透明」時的高度。
直到去年某個夜晚，我獨自走在人潮清冷的街道、心愛的i-Pod隨機選取音樂，一會，「Answer」的旋律從耳機中流洩，才聽到鋼琴前奏，便忍不住停下腳步。
一首歌要打動人心，不光是作品本身要有動人的特質，還有聽眾當下的情緒和氛圍。
音樂對了、情緒對了、環境對了，那麼，屬於音樂的魔幻時刻就會產生。(i-Pod的隨機選曲功能，常在某個不經意時刻，帶給我這類驚喜～～)
在那個平淡又平凡的夜晚，「Answer」用憂傷的情調，訴說著愛情的脆弱與堅毅，深深觸動了我。

幾天後，我將這首歌放給44聽，聽完，淚腺發達的他哭了。
我不知道他在音樂中聽到了什麼？？？想到了什麼？？？我其實很好奇，可是我不敢問、也不能問，因為答案或許會讓我忌妒。
一首歌曲，感動了兩個不同的人，感動的理由或許不同，但那份紮實的痛，卻又這麼相似。
